A tall and powerful defender, Winston Reid started all three of New Zealand's matches at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, scoring in the All Whites' 1-1 draw with Slovakia.

Comfortable at right-back or centre-back, Reid moved to Denmark at the age of ten, representing the Scandinavian nation at U19, U20 and U21 levels before switching international allegiance to the country of his birth in early 2010.

After five years of first-team action at FC Midtjylland in Denmark, the 6'3" player moved to West Ham United in August 2010.

2011/12

Scored his first goal of the season in the 4-1 win at Nottingham Forest on 28 August 2011...Suffered a dislocated shoulder in the 4-3 home npower Championship win over Portsmouth on 10 September 2011...Ruled out for more than three months with a dislocated shoulder, making his comeback in the 2-1 npower Championship defeat at Derby County on 31 December 2011...Won a penalty in the 1-0 FA Cup third-round defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on 8 January 2012.
