A tall, blond goalkeeper, Ruud Boffin began his career with KRC Genk in his home country of Belgium before moving across the border to join Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven at the age of 17.

Boffin failed to make a league appearance for PSV, and was loaned out to Eerste divisie club FC Eindhoven for a season before joining MVV Maastricht on a permanent basis.

Eighteen consistent months tempted Eredivisie side VVV-Venlo to take Boffin on loan for the second half of the 2009/10 season

2011/12

Made his first competitive appearance at the Boleyn Ground in the Carling Cup first-round tie against Aldershot Town on 24 August 2011...Started the 1-0 FA Cup third-round defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on 8 January 2012.

2010/11

Played the second half of West Ham United's 2-1 reserve pre-season friendly victory over Crystal Palace on 17 August 2010…Completed a trial before joining West Ham United on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee on 31 August 2010...He first made the bench on 22 September and the Carling Cup third-round win at Sunderland...Made his first-team debut for West Ham United in the 1-1 Barclays Premier League draw at Blackburn Rovers on 18 December 2010...Was an unused substitute on 32 occasions in all competitions...Totalled eight Barclays Premier Reserve League starts.
