A determined and versatile player, Matt Fry is yet another talented defender to have come through the ranks at the Academy of Football.

Born in Gravesend a short distance across the River Thames from the Boleyn Ground, Fry has enjoyed successful loan spells in League One with both Gillingham and Charlton Athletic.

A consistent performer at reserve-team level, Fry will hope to be given a first-team opportunity with the Hammers when it is presented to him.

2010/11

Joined Charlton Athletic on half-season loan in August 2010, scoring on his Addicks debut in a 3-1 League One defeat at Huddesfield Town on 28 August 2010...Appeared in 25 League One matches for Charlton Athletic, 20 of them starts...Appeared in Charlton Athletic's 3-0 FA Cup third-round defeat at Tottenham Hotspur...Totalled 32 appearances and one goal for Charlton Athletic, having twice extended his loan stay at The Valley...Returned to West Ham United in March 2011...Started the 4-2 Barclays Premier Reserve League victory at Blackpool before being injured in the 4-1 defeat at Blackburn Rovers, ending his season...Totalled two Barclays Premier Reserve League appearances.

2009/10
