West Ham United 3-1 Stoke City (AET)
Carling Cup Round Four
27 October 2010

West Ham United left it late but saw off Stoke City on this day four years ago to move into the quarter finals of the League Cup.

Stoke looked as if they would be the team to go through for much of the tie after Kenwyne Jones gave them a sixth minute lead with a header from a Jermaine Pennant corner.

The Hammers knocked at the door, but had to wait until six minutes from time for their equaliser, Scott Parker nodding home to level up.

The tie went into extra time, with West Ham moving into the lead for the first time on 96 minutes when Mark Noble burst into the box and cut back for Manuel da Costa to notch his first goal of the season.

Victor Obinna made the game safe two minutes from time, finishing from another Noble assist.

The Hammers would go on to make the semi-finals of the competition that season, losing to eventual winners Birmingham City.
