George Moncur made his third start in Colchester United colours as the U's suffered a 2-1 defeat to Notts County in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday.
County ended with nine men after red cards in the final 13 minutes for Cieron Keane and Nicky Wroe left them up against it, but Colchester were unable to take advantage.
Earlier, Freddie Sears had cancelled out Ronan Murray's opener, but a super strike from Liam Noble gave the Magpies the points.
Moncur has now played four games for his loan club, netting twice.
Meanwhile, Sean Maguire played the 90 minutes as Sligo Rovers were pegged back late on by Dundalk in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division on Monday.
The Bit o'Red led at the break thanks to Danny North's penalty, but former Sligo striker David McMillan scored with four minutes to play to ensure a 1-1 draw.
Sligo remain fifth in the table.
Meanwhile Raphael Spiegel has returned to the Hammers after his loan spell at Crawley Town came to an end.
