Harney's NI close in on title

Jamie Harney's Northern Ireland U19 side are in pole position to claim the Dale Farm Milk Cup title after making it two wins from two on Wednesday.

Following a 2-0 victory over China earlier in the week, the host nation recovered from a goal down to defeat Mexico 2-1.

Northern Ireland's goals came in the final eight minutes, with Mikhail Kennedy and Sean Mullen netting to overturn the advantage given to Mexico by Victor Guzman.

The match also had its fair share of controversy, with three Mexicans and a Northern Irish player seeing red for violent conduct during the second half.

The first altercation saw Raul Monala Gudino, Carlos Arreola and Robbie McDaid given their marching orders, with Mexico's Kevin Gutierrez joining them for an early bath in the closing stages.

Now, Northern Ireland merely need to avoid defeat against Canada in their final fixture on Friday to lift the title.
