Spiegel heads to Crawley on loan

Young Hammers goalkeeper Raphael Spiegel has joined Sky Bet League One club Crawley Town on an emergency loan basis.

The Switzerland U21 international initially links up with the Red Devils until 16 August, taking in their pre-season schedule and opening two league fixtures.

Spiegel has been at the Hammers since 2012, appearing regularly for the Under-21 side over the last two seasons.

He already possesses first team experience from his time in Switzerland with Grasshopper and SC Bruhl, and will now look to add to that in the Football League.

Crawley open their league campaign with a trip to Barnsley on 9 August, before hosting Swindon Town a week later.
