Joey O'Brien is readying himself for a fast start to pre-season training, as West Ham United get set for warm-weather training in Evian.
The 28-year-old expects the going to be tough in France, with as many as three sessions a day to set the Hammers on their way toward the new Barclays Premier League campaign.
Upon his return to Chadwell Heath on Thursday morning, the full-back spoke of an eventful summer, one that saw him marry his girlfriend of five years Joanne Martin.
He told West Ham TV: "The summer's been great. Obviously it was great to go back home to see family and friends and spend time with them. I got married this summer as well, so that was an added bonus!
"It's good to be back. I've had a good break so I'm looking forward to getting going.
O'Brien sports the Hammers' new home shirt on the first day back
"It's normally hard work over the first week, so loads of sessions and a lot of hard work, but that's what we're for. It's hard work, but it's enjoyable as well."
Though the big Premier League kick-off may yet be some six weeks away, O'Brien insists it won't be long until attention turns to the opening-day visit of Tottenham Hotspur.
"It's early days yet, you're just really thinking about getting going again out on the pitch and a bit of training. The season's still a bit away but you start thinking about it fairly quickly and your head starts thinking about the first game of the season."
That first game will see the Hammers sporting their new adidas 2014/15 home shirt and O'Brien likes what he sees!
"It's lovely, top range! I like the stripes and that, so it's really good," he confirmed.
