A Wayne Rooney double condemned the Hammers to a third consecutive defeat in the Barclays Premier League, a streak they seek to end when the Tigers visit east London.

West Ham climbed to 13th in the table after this win over relegation threatened Hull City.

Gianfranco Zola's side got off to a flyer when Valon Behrami put them ahead in the third minute.

Carlton Cole added a second before Julien Faubert rounded things off with a spectacular 25-yard strike.

The Hammers would go on to finish just five points and two places above relegated Hull.

The Hammers extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a convincing home win over the Tigers.

Hull had lost six straight games coming into this match and could have been on the end of a more emphatic defeat at the Boleyn Ground with the Hammers having struck the woodwork four times.

Mark Noble missed a penalty before David Di Michele put the home side in front just before half-time.

Carlton Cole turned in a second five minutes after the interval to score his fifth goal in as many matches as the Hammers sauntered to victory.

West Ham went goal crazy as the Tigers left the Boleyn Ground with their tails between their legs after this league encounter.

Jimmy Quinn and Julian Dicks netted twice each, including one from the penalty spot for Dicks.

Steve Potts, George Parris and Trevor Morley also got in on the act as the Hammers produced an amazing display to destroy their visitors.

West Ham ended the season in second place, securing a place in the top flight for the following year whilst the Tigers finished bottom of the table.

West Ham bounced back from a Boxing Day trouncing as they recorded a solid home win over the Tigers.

Luton Town had destroyed the Hammers three days earlier, winning 6-1 before the hosts regained some pride with a clean sheet against Hull.

The goals came courtesy of Ken Tucker and Derek Parker as the home side consolidated their mid-table position.

The Boleyn Ground crowd were treated to a convincing home win against Hull in 1935 as Jimmy Ruffell gave the Tigers the runaround.
