West Ham United 2-1 Fulham
Premier League
23 January 2006

West Ham won a midweek London derby against Fulham at the Boleyn Ground thanks to two goals of the highest quality.

The home crowd were sent into raptures after just 17 minutes when Anton Ferdinand spun beautifully to volley the ball from outside the box past Fulham stopper Antti Niemi.

Things got even better for the Hammers eleven minutes later when Yossi Benayound produced a sublime chip from the edge of the area which left the visiting keeper stranded in no man's land.

The away side did pull one back just after half-time through Heidar Helguson but the Hammers held on for a first win in five home matches.
