Voting for September's West Ham United Player of the Month poll is now open.

James Collins took the prize in August, and a number of players from the defensive unit are again among the nominees for September's award.

Goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen was in sparkling form to help the Hammers to a 0-0 draw at Southampton in their first game of the month, making fine saves from Adam Lallana and Dani Osvaldo. He also clawed a Ahmed Elmohamady header onto the post in the 1-0 reverse at Hull City in the final fixture of September.

Another defender in good form through the month was full back Joey O'Brien, who played at both left back and right back across the three Barclays Premier League assignments against Southampton, Everton and Hull.

Fellow full back Razvan Rat is also in the mix, having broken into the Premier League starting XI for the games against Everton and Hull, as well as coming off the bench to replace the injured Guy Demel at Southampton.

New Zealand international Winston Reid was a constant presence in the team in top flight action throughout September, as West Ham conceded only four goals in their three matches.

The shortlist is rounded off by Ravel Morrison, who maintained his fine start to the new campaign with two goals in September.

The first was his debut Barclays Premier League strike, coming in the 3-2 defeat to Everton on 21 September, and the followed that by opening the scoring within 20 seconds of the Hammers' victory over Cardiff City by the same scoreline in the Capital One Cup.
