An own goal helped John Lyall's (pictured) West Ham United beat London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in a historic season for the club.

Graham Wilkins put through his own net to set the Hammers on their way to a sixth game without defeat.

The Irons lost just four games in the league on their way to winning the Division two title by 13 points ahead of second placed Notts County.

The club also reached the final of the League Cup but lost in a replay to Liverpool 2-1 after a 1-1 draw had been played out.
