Sunday 19 May
Updated Thursday 19 February
With this being our final game of the season, I know all the lads are looking forward to thanking you at the end for your fantastic support home and away. You have been brilliant this season and I hope we've shown you how much we've appreciated it with our performances.
Our home form has been the pinnacle of what we've done. What we've achieved this year has been based on our home form being so good, only losing four times all season, and only to the top five or six teams.
We've been so strong so we've got to make sure that it counts again on Sunday, send you home with a nice win and hope you all have a great summer. That's what we're planning for.
It's Reading, of course. They won the league last year and left a bit on us in a few interviews and what they've said. So there's no better game for us to get three points and make sure we're in the top ten. We want to finish our season, which has been a fantastic one, in a fantastic fashion.
As you've probably seen, we were invited by Olympian Mark Hunter to Eton Dorney on Thursday, to have a go at rowing. Some fared better than others!
While it shows we're relaxing, it was all about unity and a team-bonding session. It's about doing the right things and it was certainly something different to get us away from the everyday of football and the training ground. Hopefully it will have gone a long way to making sure we get that win on Sunday.
Whatever happens Sunday, I'm sure you'll agree that this has been an outstanding season and we're hoping to have another season like this to consolidate.
We want to keep bringing big players in, keep getting better players and then year on year keep making tiny footsteps to make sure we get to where I believe the club belongs. That's back in Europe, challenging for European places and getting to cup finals. I don't think that's beyond us.
Obviously this year has been more difficult coming back up into the Premier League, but as we build the squad it will only get better for us and those cup games and competitions will become a major priority.
I hope we can sign off the season in style for you and I look forward to thanking you all after the final whistle.
Come on you Irons!
