West Ham United Ladies lost out by a single goal in a prestigious friendly against Charlton Athletic at The Valley on Thursday evening.

Charlton's ladies compete a division up from the Hammers in the FA Women's Premier League National Division, but were made to work hard for their victory.

It was a former Hammers duo who combined to eventually break their resistance 15 minutes from time.

Gemma Shepherd scored the goal, tapping home after she had fed a through ball to Emma Harrison, who returned the favour.

The Hammers' ladies finished their league campaign last weekend, claiming sixth place in the FA Women's Premier League.
