West Ham United have shared some Easter cheer by donating dozens of eggs to Time 107.5fm's 'Be a Good Egg' appeal.

Hammers kit manager Pete Williams heard about the appeal while listening to the Romford-based radio station while washing the first-team squad's shirts, shorts, socks and training kit at Chadwell Heath.

A note was posted at the training ground and the players and staff responded enthusiastically, donating dozens of eggs in all shapes and sizes.

These were collected by Time 107.5fm's Gabby Timms and Ian Nisbett and will be distributed to underprivileged children throughout the Romford area over the Easter weekend.

Williams said the Hammers were happy to get involved: "I heard the appeal on the radio while I was cleaning the kit and I thought it was a very good cause for us to support.

"I got cracking and put up a few posters and the lads and staff were only too happy to help. We collected donations from everyone and I went out and got a kit van full of Easter eggs for the kids."

Captain Kevin Nolan added: "Pete had this great idea and the players were delighted to be able to help. If we can give a young boy or girl something to smile about then that's the least we can do."

Time 107.5fm station manager Lorna Waters thanked the Hammers for contributing to the successful scheme.

"The Time 107.5fm 'Be a Good Egg' appeal in association with Northwood lettings is in its ninth year now and we continue to be amazed by the generosity of our listeners," said Waters.

"This year we will be distributing the eggs to children in the local are who are less fortunate than others and it is very heart-warming to know that the eggs will go directly to the children and really help put a smile on their faces.

"Thanks to West Ham United, we have extra eggs this year to distribute and that means more happy children."
