Lee fires U18s to victory

West Ham United ended a four-match winless run by scoring an impressive 2-0 Barclays U18 Premier League Group 1 victory over Arsenal on Saturday.

Having taken the lead through an a goal from Chelsea trialist Walter Figueira (pictured), striker Elliot Lee netted his fourth goal in five youth-team matches this season to complete a fine win at Little Heath.

Perhaps just as pleasing for the coaching staff was the fact that the Hammers kept their second clean sheet in eleven league matches this term. West Ham also gained revenge for the 3-0 defeat they suffered in the reverse fixture at Arsenal in September.

Academy Director Tony Carr MBE was justifiably pleased with the team's efforts, saying: "It was a good performance and I thought we just about edged it and deserved our win. We created some good chances and got our goals at good times."

The West Ham youngsters will return to action next Saturday, when they travel to West Bromwich Albion.

U18s: Baxter, Alexander, Page, Nasha, Harney, Cullen (Onnariase), Bywater, Miles (Sadiler), Mavila, E.Lee (Boakye-Yiadom), Figueira
