Payet relishing Liverpool clash

When Dimitri Payet first arrived in England he must have been relishing the chance to play at the big stadiums in the Premier League and they don't come much bigger than Anfield on Saturday.

Payet has wasted no time settling into his new surroundings and is already showing the quality that made him one of the most creative midfielders in Europe last season.

The France international created more assists than Lionel Messi and was Slaven Bilic's first choice to bring him into the Boleyn Ground during the summer.

Payet has never played at Anfield before and cannot wait to sample the famous atmosphere inside the stadium.

But the 28-year-old says he will be doing everything to help West Ham United get their season back on track following the last two disappointing results against Leicester and Bournemouth.

Payet said: “I am really looking forward to playing against Liverpool and playing at Anfield.

“We have just suffered two defeats, but we’ve taken our mistakes on board. We have analysed the match and we think we’re going to do much better for the next game against Liverpool.

“I am enjoying playing in the Premier League. I know I have got a lot of things to learn but so far so good.

“Slaven is a good teacher, he speaks a lot and gives us a lot of informations. But now we need to put things into practice and I’m sure it’s going to be alright.”

Payet made his first visit to the new Stadium on Thursday and cannot wait for the Club's move a few miles down the road next summer.

The talented forward reveals one of his biggest reasons for joining was the move into the new Stadium and hopes it will help take the Club onto the next level.

Payet added: “I came here because of this stadium. I can see that they’re working hard on it. It’s a beautiful stadium and I’m looking forward to start playing in it.

“I’ve played already in three different Clubs and they’ve all had a new stadium. It can make quite a big difference to the Club and it’s a very big thing to have a new stadium.”
